Guidice Goal Not Enough To Fend Spartans Off
September 12, 2021 | Field Hockey
EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Ball State field hockey team closed a tough weekend on the road with a 7-1 loss at Big Ten opponent Michigan State Sunday afternoon.
Although the Cardinals (2-5) turned in a strong performance, it wasnot enough to fend off the undefeated Spartans (5-0) who had previously earned victories against fellow Mid-American Conference programs Kent State and Ohio.
Things were not all bad though, as the Cardinals drew five penalty corners and were able to capitalize on one right before intermission when freshman Agostina Guidice found the back of the cage for her first career goal off an assist from Libby Kraus.
The Cardinals finished the contest with six total shots, including three shots on goal.
Ball State's tough non-conference slate will have it well-prepared for MAC play which begins Friday, Sept. 17, when the Cardinals host Central Michigan at 1 p.m. at the Briner Sports Complex.
