Soccer Releases 2021 Schedule; Looks to Defend MAC West Crown

MUNCIE, Ind. - - The official path for the Ball State women's soccer team to defend last year's Mid-American Conference West Division crown has been set, as third-year head coach Josh Rife announced the team's schedule for the 2021 season today (Wednesday, Aug. 4).Â
The Cardinals finished the non-traditional 2020-21 spring season with a record of 6-3-1, winning five of its final six regular season contests to secure its spot in the MAC Championship game for the second time in the past three seasons. Four players off last year's roster earned MAC postseason honors, while Rife was tabbed the MAC Coach of the Year.Â
The Ball State women's soccer team officially reports to campus Thursday for its annual fall camp. From there, the Cardinals will scrimmage at Louisville, Saturday, August 14 (7:30 p.m. ET), before opening its season at Valparaiso Sunday, August 22 (2 p.m. ET).
 BSU's first home game is currently scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 5 (1 p.m.) versus Purdue Fort Wayne, while the team opens its 11-game MAC slate with a home contest versus Eastern Michigan Thursday, Sept. 23 (4 p.m.).
Overall, Ball State will play eight regular season games at the soccer field at the Briner Sports Complex, including a highly anticipated rematch of the 2020-21 MAC Championship game versus Bowling Green Thursday, Oct. 7 (4 p.m.).
