Women’s Basketball Unveils Full 2021-22 Schedule
August 27, 2021 | Women's Basketball
MUNCIE, Ind. - After a nontraditional season last year, the Ball State women's basketball program is excited to return to the court with a full 30-game schedule for the 2021-22 season. The Cardinals will play 16 of those games at home in Worthen Arena.
Time sure does fly as head coach Brady Sallee embarks on his 10th season at the helm of the Cardinals. Sallee's decade year begins with Ball State's fifth annual Field Trip Day on Tuesday, Nov. 9 against Milwaukee. After that, the Cardinals remain home for the first of three contests versus schools from the state of Indiana, when it welcomes Purdue Fort Wayne to Worthen Arena on Friday, Nov. 12.
Ball State's first road game is not too far down the road, as the Cardinals travel about 58 miles south on Interstate 69 to historic Hinkle Fieldhouse to take on the Butler Bulldogs on Tuesday, Nov. 16.
Under Sallee, the Cardinals have participated in many tournaments across the country like Las Vegas, Nev., Boulder, Colo., Savannah, Ga., Estero, Fla., Albuquerque, N.M. and the Bahamas. This year BSU will spend its Thanksgiving holiday at the Van Chancellor Classic in Katy, Texas where the Cardinals will face Texas Tech (Nov. 26), Stephen F. Austin (Nov. 27) and Saint Joseph's (Nov. 28).
The Cardinals then return home to host Pitt on Saturday, Dec. 4, before traveling back down to Indianapolis to face IUPUI on Wednesday, Dec. 8. BSU wraps up its 2021-22 non-conference season in Worthen Arena with back-to-back home contests against Utah State (Dec. 11) and Bellarmine (Dec. 20).
After the Cardinals take a quick holiday break, Ball State will end the 2021 calendar year with its Mid-American Conference opener, hosting Western Michigan on Wednesday, Dec. 29. Ball State will ring in the new year on the road at Bowling Green on Jan. 1.
This MAC season, each conference team will play 20 games, 10 at home and 10 on the road over a 10-week span. Ball State will play home-and-home series with all five divisional opponents, face each cross divisional program once and play a second game versus Bowling Green, Buffalo, Kent State and Ohio. The Cardinals end the MAC regular season at home against Eastern Michigan (March 5).
The conference tournament runs March 9-12 with the league's top eight teams advancing to Cleveland for quarterfinals, semifinals and the title game on Saturday, March 12.
