Parrott Scores Low at IWGA State Amateur Championship
June 15, 2021 | Women's Golf
A top-five finish in her home state's amateur tournament would be impressive in any fashion for Ball State rising sophomore, Kiah Parrott.
But if you consider a labored 79 in the first round requiring additional range work, the final result at Carmel's Prairie View Golf Club in the Indiana Women's Golf Association State Amateur Championship is even more impressive if not bittersweet for the Kokomo native.
"The first day I had a bit of a swing issue going on and I just couldn't figure it out," Parrott said. "I went back home, got it figured out on the driving range and shot 2 under the last two days."
Parrott carded back-to-back scores of 71 to claw back and finish in a tie for 5th in a talented field last week. Only three players bested 71 all week with those in the top-four competing collegiately at Clemson, Michigan State, Georgetown and Purdue.
"The tournament was a great time with a really good field," Parrott added. "I was overall happy with how I played but wish I could have a couple shots back that I threw away."
Clemson's Annabelle Pancak of Zionsville was the runaway winner capturing her second state am title with a 16-under, three-day total of 200 on the Robert Trent Jones course.
