Chayce McDermott Named MAC Pitcher of the Week

For the second time this season, Chayce McDermott is the MAC Pitcher of the Week. McDermott struck out 13 batters to help Ball State to a 9-2 win at Ohio on Saturday,
McDermott (8-2) threw all seven innings in the blowout victory, allowing just three hits. It was his second complete game of the season and matched his career high of 13 strikeouts, which he set against Toledo in March.
The right-hander from Anderson, Indiana, is a top draft prospect and has been one of the best pitchers in the conference. He's 6-1 in league starts with a 3.46 ERA and MAC batters are hitting just .189 against him. For the entire year, he ranks 6th nationally with a total of 116 strikeouts. He's 15th in the country in strikeouts per 9 innings (13.62).Â
McDermott and the Cardinals (34-18) host Miami this weekend in the season's final weekend. Ball State (25-11 MAC) is two games back in the standings behind Central Michigan (27-9).
