MUNCIE, Ind. - The Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association announced the members of the 2021 All-MIVA First and Second teams Friday morning. Ball State senior setter Quinn Isaacson and junior outside hitter Kaleb Jenness were tabbed to the All-MIVA First Team, while junior middle attacker Felix Egharevba and graduate senior outside hitter Blake Reardon were both selected to the All-MIVA Second Team.
This is the first time Isaacson has earned All-MIVA First Team accolades, as he was a second-team honoree in 2020. Isaacson has had a stellar year for the Cardinals. The senior setter ranks atop the MIVA in digs (127) and second among his peers in assists per set (10.70). Isaacson earned All-MIVA Defensive Player of the Week accolades for the week of Feb. 23. He has dished out 717 assists for the season. Isaacson recorded a season-high 14 digs in the Cardinals'thrilling five-set win over McKendree on April 3.
Jenness was named to the All-MIVA First Team for the second straight year. Prior to the season, Jenness was the lone Cardinal to receive preseason All-MIVA accolades. A 2020 AVCA honorable mention All-American, Jenness leads the squad in kills (234) and is third in blocks (42). He has recorded double-digit kills in the Cardinals' past 10 contests with a season-best 21 at Ohio State on March 11. Jenness was named MIVA Offensive Player of Week on Feb. 23 for his performance against Lindenwood. He currently ranks fourth in the conference in kills per game (3.76) and third in total kills (233).
Egharevba earned All-MIVA Second Team honors for the first time in his career. He was recently named the MIVA Defensive Player of the Week after a record-breaking weekend at McKendree. In the Cardinals' last MIVA regular season series, Egharevba led Ball State to a split with 10th-ranked McKendree. Saturday's five-set victory over the Bearcats allowed the Cardinals to clinch a home match for the 2021 MIVA Tournament quarterfinal round. In the thrilling 3-2 victory, Egharevba dominated play at the net with 16 total blocks, setting a Ball State men's volleyball rally-scoring era record. His 14 block assists were also a BSU rally-scoring era record.
This is the second straight season Reardon has earned All-MIVA Second Team honors. Reardon has been a staple on the court for the Cardinals. He currently ranks second on the team in kills with 233 and second in blocks with 44. On Jan. 26, Reardon was named the MIVA Offensive Player of the Week after helping the Cardinals beat then-13th-ranked George Mason 3-1 with a season-best 25-kill performance. Reardon ended the Cardinals' season-opening weekend with 49 kills (5.44 per set) for a .320 hitting percentage. Just a few matches ago, he collected a career-best .429 attack percentage at Quincy on March 30 after 13 kills in 21 attempts with only four errors.
Ball State enters the 2021 MIVA Tournament quarterfinals as the No. 4 seed and will host the fifth-seeded Ohio State Buckeyes on Saturday, April 10 at 7 p.m. ET in Worthen Arena.
