On the day, Trenton Quartermaine, Noah Navarro and Nick Powell each had three hits. Adam Tellier, a .358 hitter on the season, reached base five times and scored three runs.Â

Saturday's afternoon game was, in simple terms, wild. BSU found itself trailing 8-4 but rallied for four runs in the 7th to send the game into extra innings before pulling away.

BSU took control in the 8th when Powell and Quartermaine delivered the big blows. Ball State scored five runs – three on a double by Powell and then a 2-run homer by Quartermaine – to make a tight game a comfortable win.

The Cardinals' clutch 7th inning came on four hits, with Peltier's 2-run single getting the scoring started. Aaron Simpson added a 2-run single to right to tie the game. Â

That eventful 7th inning included three Cardinal walks and a hit batter. Eastern committed 14 miscues in the game (9 walks, 4 HBP, 1 WP) and eventually BSU took advantage.

Navarro and Powell each drove in three runs and scored twice to lead the Cards. Messina scored two runs and Simpson drove in three. Lukas Jaksich came in and got the last six outs to earn the win and improve to 5-1 on the year. Chayce McDermott started and struck out nine over 5.1 innings.
Game 2 – Eastern Michigan 2, Ball State 1 – GAME 2 BOX SCORE
Eastern Michigan walked off in the 7th inning in a pitcher's duel, winning 2-1 in the nightcap.
Quartermaine had two hits and scored Ball State's only run and Navarro also had two hits as BSU managed six hits (all singles) in the game.Â
Eastern's Nick Jones, who had two hits, hit a game-winning RBI single in the 7th.Â
Jaksich pitched 5.0 shutout innings with five strikeouts, improving his season ERA to a team-best 2.22.Â
