Fans can catch four Ball State gymnasts this weekend as the compete as individuals at the NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional. Claudia Goyco, Victoria Henry, Grace Evans and Megan Teter will be on ESPN3 this weekend vying for a chance to compete for a trip to the national championships.
The Cards compete Friday evening along with Missouri. All-MAC floor gymnast Claudia Goyco competes in her first NCAA Regional in the first rotation Friday night. She will compete after Missouri's floor rotation at 8 p.m. The second rotation will feature Victoria Henry on vault after Missouri competes. Grace Evans and Megan Teter will compete on bars in the third rotation.
As a team, the Cardinals ranked 37th in the nation. That was the best ranking for the program since 1999 when BSU was 23rd. Putting four individual gymnasts in the NCAA Regional is another first, as three Cards went to the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional in 2019.Â
Goyco, a senior from Buford, Georgia, was MAC Specialist of the Year on floor last year and an All-MAC performer. She has five outings with a 9.85 or better on floor with two routines scoring 9.90. Goyco, after tying for the MAC lead in floor NSQ last year, ranked ninth this year.
Henry, from Woodbridge, Virginia, was voted second team All-MAC and will continue her freshman season in Alabama. She delivered four vault scores of 9.8 or better, including a career best 9.925 at Eastern Michigan on Feb. 6. She averaged 9.800 over her last three meets and ranked second in the MAC with a 9.85 vault NSQ.
Teter, a sophomore from Copley, Ohio, owns six 9.80 bars routines this season with her high of 9.90 coming on March 13. Teter also was judged 9.80 or better on floor six times this season in addition to her bars performances. Evans was the top bars performer on the team across the year, with her NSQ of 9.863 ranking seventh in the MAC. She was seven times judged 9.80 or better on bars and had a 9.90 on Feb. 19 in a road meet.

How Does The Regional Work?
The top two from each event that aren't on an advancing team qualify for the NCAA National Championships along with the top two teams from Saturday's competition. For instance, if Alabama and Oklahoma advance, the two two scores on each event that aren't on those teams will advance.
Regional Format

Alabama-Arkansas-Iowa-Iowa State - Friday at 2 p.m. ET. Friday's second session with the Cardinals begins at 8 p.m.
