March 28, 2021 | Men's Golf
GULF SHORES, Ala. -- All five members of the Ball State men's golf team scored within two shots of each other Sunday in the opening round of the Craft Farms Intercollegiate.
None terribly high. None terribly low. Just all steady.
Joey Ranieri and Tyler Green went for 74, CJ Jones and Sterling McIlravy were at 75, and Jack Cunningham finished at 76.
The four counting scores added up to a team total of 298 (+10), placing the Cardinals eighth in the 13-team field but just seven shots out of third with two rounds still to play on the Cotton Creek course at Craft Farms Golf Club.
Louisiana leads the way after day one at 286 (-2), two shots clear of tournament co-host South Alabama. David Perkins of Illinois State holds the individual lead after a round of 67.
Ranieri and Green lead the way for Ball State in a tie for 22nd among the 75 players in the field.
