Following a series win to open MAC play last weekend, the Ball State baseball team hosts Toledo March 26-28. BSU has five of its next six games at home as the season starts to take shape.
Â
The Cardinals (9-8, 3-1) scored 30 runs in 33 offensive innings last weekend against Western Michigan, with two games scoring 12 or more runs. That combined with ace pitching efforts from John Baker (MAC Pitcher of the Week), Chayce McDermott and Luke Jaksich have allowed Ball State to let the bats warm up.
Â
The Cardinals nearly captured the sweep, but Western Michigan hit some home runs late in the finale to outlast Ball State 15-12 in 14 innings. It was WMU's first win of the season.
Â
Toledo is 3-14 and lost three of four to Miami to open league play. UT has allowed 7+ runs in 10 of its 17 games, while BSU has allowed 7+ runs just four times in 17 games.
Following this weekend, the Cardinals will step out of MAC play for a three-game series vs. Butler. The Friday and Sunday games will be at home (reminder: no public attendance permitted). The Saturday game will be at Butler.
