March 23, 2021 | Field Hockey
CLEVELAND, Ohio - Ball State field hockey senior defender Audrey Tabor (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart) has been named the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office this afternoon.
Tabor, who continues for be a force to be reckoned with this season, once again controlled things defensively for the Cardinals this past weekend against Ohio.
Her ability to intercept and win one-on-one matchups neutralized the Bobcat offense for much of the Friday and Saturday matches. Tabor's presence was felt all over the field. Her excellent defending helped the Cardinals rise to a 2-0 lead for much of Friday's match against the Bobcats, which ended in a 2-1 victory.
On Saturday, her management of the Ohio offense helped Ball State take back momentum after falling behind 1-0, allowing BSU to tie the game in the final period to send the contest into overtime. The Cardinals stalled out the Ohio offense, though victory ultimately escaped them in the extra period.
The Ball State field hockey team remains home this weekend when it hosts a pair of MAC games against Longwood University on March 26 and March 27. Both games will begin at noon in the Briner Sports Complex.
