Women’s Golf Eager to Return to Competition Nearly a Year Later

Cardinals begin 2021 season at Mid-American Challenge in Florida
After 11 months away from competition, the Ball State women's golf team will tee it up Monday and Tuesday to begin its long-awaited 2021 season.
The Cardinals are one of 12 teams competing in the Mid-American Challenge hosted by Bowling Green at Lakewood Ranch Country Club in Florida. The action begins with 36 holes Monday.
Other MAC teams in the field include Akron, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois, Ohio and Toledo. The event also features Florida Gulf Coast, Illinois State, Morehead State and Western Illinois.
The most recent tournament action for Ball State came in early March 2020, right before the shutdown of the rest of that season by the COVID-19 pandemic. A roster loaded with returning players is eager to tee it up again.
The Cardinals' veteran lineup features seniors Liz Kim and Tiegan Taylor and juniors Hadley Moritz and Morgan Lewis. Freshman Kiah Parrot will make her debut at the Mid-American Challenge, while junior Elizabeth Amendola will compete as an individual.
Kim and Moritz both held sub-78.00 scoring averages last season and are the top returners from a BSU team that finished among the top 3 in four of its eight events. That duo plus Taylor and Lewis played every round in the lineup a season ago.
Ball State, under the direction of 17th-year head coach Katherine Mowat, has a total of five tournaments on the schedule this spring before the MAC Championships in late April.
The Cardinals were the third-rated team in the MAC when the 2019-20 season was halted, trailing only Kent State and Northern Illinois.
