• From 2013-14, Ball State had won six in a row over Toledo, marking it the longest win streak in program history over the Rockets. The Cardinals swept the regular season series against the Rockets last year winning at Toledo on Feb. 12 by a score of 60-58 and then at home 66-60 on Feb. 26. BSU won its first meeting this season oveer the Rockets at home by a score of 93-78 on Jan. 6.
• Ball State locked up its fate for the 2021 Mid-American Conference Tournament Wednesday in its 82-79 win over Northern Illinois. The Cardinals have punched their ticket straight to Cleveland in the MAC Tournament seven out of nine times under Sallee.
• Toledo looks to continue on the winning track after defeating CMU 72-67 on Feb. 24 in Mount Pleasant, Mich.
In the Nation:
Senior forward Oshlynn Brown currently ranks seventh in the nation in double-doubles (12), 10th in defensive rebounds per game (8.5) and 29th in total rebounds (190). Brown is also currently third on the list of active NCAA DI for career double-double leaders with 45. The Cardinals rank seventh in the nation in free throw attempts and eighth in free throws made.
Isn't It Ironic:
History repeated itself. Brown grabbed the third rebound she needed to become Ball State women's basketball's all-time leading rebounder and ironically it was also the Huskies that the Cardinals were playing when former BSU forward Nathalie Fontaine (2012-16) broke the all-time scoring record at Ball State back on March 2, 2016.
1,000 Points, 1,000 Rebounds:
Senior Oshlynn Brown currently has 1,424 career points and 1,038 rebounds. Brown hit the 1,000 rebound plateau at Miami on Feb. 13 to become only the second player in Ball State women's basketball history to reach 1,000 points and rebounds. Former Cardinal Emma Jones (1984-87) is the only other player in program history to get 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. Jones was the first-ever women's basketball player to be inducted in the Ball State Athletics Hall of Fame.
MAC Tourney Time:
This marks the 31st appearance for the Cardinals in the Mid-American Conference Tournament in program history. Ball State has advanced to Cleveland 19 out of the past 21 seasons. The Cardinals are 20-29 all-time in MAC Tournament play and have advanced to the MAC Tournament finals on five occasions. Ball State defeated Bowling Green in 2009 in the MAC Tournament Championship game. This is the seventh time in current head coach Brady Sallee's tenure the Cardinals have punched their ticket straight to the MAC Tournament in Cleveland. Prior to that, Ball State had not received a bye in the MAC Tournament at Rocket Mortgage Field House since 2009, when the Cardinals won the event as the No. 2 seed. Ironically, Ball State will enter this year's tournament as the No. 2 seed as well.
