Men’s Tennis Shuts Out IUPUI, 7-0

With the win, the Cardinals extend their win streak to seven.
MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State men's tennis team (7-1) got down to business early today after posting a 7-0 sweep over the IUPUI Jaguars (3-3) Friday afternoon at the Northwest YMCA.
With the win, BSU extended its win streak to seven on the season.
The top two doubles courts were neck and neck to start the match. On court three, BSU's Danilo Kovacevic and Eli Herran breezed through their double's competition after their 6-2 defeat over the Jaguars' duo of Eric Hollingsworth and Ethean Mardanus-Budio.
After that, Thibault De Negri and his No. 2 doubles partner Parrish Simmons clinched the first point of today's match over IUPUI's Blessing Benibo and Nicholas Moody. Simmons made a clean shot to seal the doubles victory for the Cardinals.
Ball State captured first sets on all six singles courts with No. 6 Herran hitting the finish line first with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Nicholas Moody. Sajin Smith then followed suit on the back court at the No. 5 slot, taking down Benibo, 6-1, 6-2.
De Negri drummed up the next win at the top spot, beating Mardanus-Budio, 6-3, 6-3 for match point. Moments later, Chris Adams was victorious over Emil Jankowski at singles No. 3, winning in straight sets (6-2, 6-0).
Only two courts remained, Kovacevic managed to move past Alex Jochim at No. 2 singles after a first set tiebreaker 7-6 (7-1). He then won the second frame, 6-2.
Vince Orlando closed out the victories today defeating Hollingsworth on court four, 7-6, (7-2), 2-6, 10-7.
The Ball State men's tennis team will host IUPUI again on Monday, March 1 at 2 p.m. ET at the Northwest YMCA.
