From the Coach – Head Coach James Whitford
"I'm just really, really obviously proud of our guys. We've been playing better each game here and we knew that but it's great to be able to see one here through the finish line and come away with the win against a really good UMass team. I thought we did a much better job in particular on the offensive end in crunch time. We got a lot of really good shots down the stretch, even when we were in a little scoring slump. We were getting the ball at the rim, and you know it's the name of the game - sometimes those shots go, sometimes they don't. I thought (Tyler Cochran) had a great game. You look at the stat line, he had 22 points and eight rebounds and only missed one shot. We took what the defense gave us. Sometimes you match as a team, that's who they are. If you look at it, they don't give up many threes any game they play. I thought we really played together. The one thing we've been doing a great job of is our assists and field goal rates. We're getting a lot of assists collectively as a team, and I think it's a sign of us really sharing the ball and playing together. Tyler is so special. He had 22 tonight, but he could impact the game just as much and score six points."
From the Student-Athlete – Junior Guard #23 Tyler Cochran
"I want to thank my coaches and my teammates. Since I got here, they told me that my ability to drive makes guys collapse and I can kick it out. It was one thing we worked on all summer with them. It gives me the confidence to keep going to the next play. Every game that we play, as coach says, we need to find ourselves a little bit more every game. Today I really feel like we showed a glimpse of how good we could really be and it's not even there yet. We are going to keep going as a team and keep finding ourselves. I really feel great about this year and what we can become."
