Cardinals Host Sycamores for In-State Showdown Saturday

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State men's basketball team returns to the hardwood on Saturday as Indiana State makes the trip to Worthen Arena. The Cardinals and Sycamores will meet for the 136th time. Ball State comes into the matchup with a 2-3 record, while Indiana State enters Saturday with a 3-3 record.
The Cardinals are coming off of an 89-86 victory over UMass on the final day of the Jersey Mike's Classic. Tyler Cochran finished with his best performance in a Ball State jersey with 22 points on 7-for-8 shooting from the field. Cochran tied with Payton Sparks for the team lead in rebounds with eight. Luke Bumbalough finished with 14 points with a 3-for-4 performance from 3-point range. Jalen Windham recorded his third-straight game in double figures with 13 points while shooting a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line. Mickey Pearson Jr. has recorded back-to-back games with 12 points as he was the fourth player with double digits. Pearson added the team's only block of the game. Demarius Jacobs and Cochran tied for the team lead with four assists. Bumbalough and Cochran each had two steals to lead the team.
So far this season, Windham has finished in double digits in four of the five games, including the last two contests. Bumbalough has recorded three double-digit games, including the last two contests. Bumbalough enters Saturday leading the team with 13.0 points per game, while Windham is averaging 11.6. Sparks leads the squad with 7.2 rebounds per game. Cochran leads the team with seven steals.
Indiana State holds a 71-64 series lead against Ball State. ISU won the last meeting, 67-57, at home and have won six of the last 10 meetings. The Cardinals are 41-23 at home against the Sycamores.
Cooper Neese leads ISU with 16.5 points per game. Cameron Henry is second on the squad averaging 15.3 points per game and leads the Sycamores with 6.8 rebounds per game. Micah Thomas is the final ISU player averaging double digits with 14.6 points per game.
