MUNCIE, Ind. - - Ball State gymnastics fans can mark their calendars for Monday, December 13, when the Cardinals unofficially open the 2022 season with its annual Red vs. White meet at Worthen Arena in the schedule announced by head coach Joanna Saleem Monday.
Â
The intrasquad meet will be the first of five opportunities to see the Cardinals at home this season. The second comes Jan. 23 when Ball State hosts Kent State for its third meet of the 2022 season.
Â
The Cardinals officially open their 11-meet 2022 regular season on Jan. 7 with a quad meet at Missouri which also features Southeast Missouri and Illinois State. Nine days later, Ball State will travel to Kalamazoo, Michigan, to face its first Mid-American Conference opponent in Western Michigan on Jan. 16.
Â
Following the Kent State meet, the Cardinals remaining home competitions included a tri-meet with Central Michigan and Illinois State (Jan. 30), a Super Bowl Sunday showdown with Bowling Green (Feb. 13) and a contest versus Eastern Michigan (Feb. 20).
Â
Ball State will be on the road for meets at Eastern Michigan (Jan. 28 with WMU and Wisconsin-Oshkosh), at Utah State (Feb. 4 with Southern Utah), at Northern Illinois (Feb. 25), at West Virginia (March 6), and at Central Michigan (March 11) to close out the regular season.
Â
All that action will look to have the Cardinals ready to go on March 19, when Eastern Michigan hosts the 2022 Mid-American Conference Championships.
Â
NCAA Regionals begin on March 31 at one of four predetermined sites, while the Championship will be held April 15-16 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.
