MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State field hockey team will close out its 2021 regular season at home on Saturday when it welcomes Kent State to the Briner Sports Complex. The game is slated to begin at 1 p.m. ET. Â
Ball State fourth-year head coach Stephanie Bernthal will welcome back her alma mater to Muncie as she was a four-year starter for the Golden Flashes. As a senior, she helped Kent State to a top-20 national ranking, Mid-American Conference regular season and tournament championships and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Â
Saturday's contest against Kent State will mark the Cardinals' fourth top-25 team they have faced this season as the Golden Flashes are currently ranked No. 22 in the nation with an 11-5 overall record and a 5-1 MAC ledger. Â
Ball State (4-12, 2-4 MAC) has had its ups and downs this season but has shown a lot of potential with one of the youngest teams in the MAC. The Cardinals' defense continues to be a strong presence against its opponents this season which includes two shutout victories against Saint Louis (1-0) and Appalachian State (1-0, OT). The Cardinals are looking to end their season on high note with a victory over the Golden Flashes.Â
