Ball State takes aim at Bradley Pink Classic
October 14, 2021 | Cross Country
6k races begin at 2:30 p.m. ET
MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State cross country team is set to hit course Friday when it travels to Peoria Ill. for the Bradley Pink Classic.
The meet, which has been broken up into multiple races, is slated to be a 6k run. The Cardinals are scheduled to take part in both races, beginning with the White Race at 2:30 p.m. ET and concluding with the Red Invite at 4 p.m. ET.
The 6k run will be the longest of the year for Ball State, including the newest members of the team, in preparation for the Mid-American Conference Championship at the end of the month.
"I'm really excited for my first 6k race," Jenna Schifferer said. "I've always liked running longer distances, so I'm excited to try out a race that is longer than what I've done before. I'm also excited to go back to Peoria because I'm from Illinois and I've raced several times there in high school."
"This will be my first 6k race, so it will be a change for me, but I am excited to see how I can do and compete, especially before the MAC Championship," Sarah Mahnensmith added.
While Friday will be a new challenge for the Cardinals, it is something the team has been preparing for over the last couple of weeks.
"We've done a lot of training for this race, so we're well prepared," Carly Spletzer said. "I'm excited to see how it goes and get some experience running a 6k before competing in the MAC Championship."
