MUNCIE, Ind. – Construction on the Scheumann Family Indoor Practice Facility has officially begun.
Fans can take a look at the construction progress by clicking on the link above.
Scheduled for completion in the summer of 2021, the $15 million indoor practice facility will be conveniently located adjacent to the Fisher Training Complex on the current footprint of the grass practice fields. The space will be utilized by the football, softball, baseball and soccer teams during inclement weather. It will also provide additional opportunities for the entire campus and broader community.
The 84,000 square-foot facility will feature a field-turf surface measuring 360' x 160' and regulation-sized competition field with a ceiling height of 65'. Retractable netting, batting cages and storage will provide the necessary amenities for teams to conduct training.
The new structure will be named the Scheumann Family Indoor Practice Facility in honor of June and John Scheumann, '71, who made the lead gift. The field inside the practice facility will be named Briner Field to honor Peggy and Kenneth Briner, '69. Other generous leadership gifts were committed by Dan ('94) and Heather Towriss, Larry Owens ('66), and Craig ('86) and Teneen Dobbs.
