Four Ball State Athletic Teams Earn NCAA APR Public Recognition Awards
May 12, 2020 | General, Men's Basketball, Men's Tennis, Women's Tennis, Cross Country
MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State men's basketball, men's tennis, cross country and women's tennis teams were recognized by the NCAA Tuesday afternoon for academic excellence after these four programs scored in the top 10 percent of their sports in the most recent Academic Progress Rate (APR) results.
This was the third straight year for women's tennis to make the list and second consecutive for cross country. Ball State was the lone Mid-American Conference school to see its men's basketball team earn the APR award.
The APR is an annual scorecard of academic achievement calculated for all Division I sports teams nationally. The scores required to be in the top 10 percent this year ranged from 987 to a perfect 1,000, depending on the sport. The APR measures eligibility, graduation and retention each semester, and provides a clear picture of the academic performance for each team in every sport.
The most recent APRs are multiyear rates based on scores from the 2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19 academic years.
