Cardinals Return to Worthen Arena to Honor Walton, Sweep Sacred Heart

MUNCIE, Ind. – After a long, five-game road trip, the Ball State men's volleyball team finally returned to Worthen Arena Saturday and did so in style by sweeping Sacred Heart. It was the Cardinals' first home game since head coach Joel Walton won his 400th career match, and he was honored prior to the start of the contest.
TEAM RECORDS
Ball State improved to 12-6 overall with the nonconference victory. Sacred Heart dropped to 5-11 for the season with the loss.
IMPACT PERFORMANCE
Kaleb Jenness led Ball State's attack with 13 kills. He also had a team-high 10 digs.

SET-BY-SET SUMMARY
Set One (BSU 25, SHU 19)- After trading the first-few points, the Cardinals settled in with a 9-2 run to go up by six. BSU's lead grew as large as eight as the Cardinals quickly took control of the match.
Set Two (BSU 25, SHU 15)- The second set was even more dominant for the Cardinals as SHU had to call timeout early with BSU up 8-2. That lead grew to 16-5 before the Pioneers ripped off five-straight points. Ball State went on to claim a 2-0 lead in the match by scoring five of the set's final six points.
Set Three (BSU 25, 18)- Sacred Heart was able to keep the final set close the majority of the way with Ball State getting some of its young players experience. After a 5-0 run by SHU to cut BSU's lead to 17-15, the Cardinals regrouped and scored five of the next six points to gain separation. Ryan Dorgan recorded a kill a few points later and then served Ball State to victory on the next play.
BALL STATE NOTES
-Walton was recognized before the match for his 400th career win. That win came in a 3-2 victory at Loyola earlier in the season.
-Ball State is now 12-0 all time against Sacred Heart after Saturday's victory.
-The Cardinals have now won three matches in a row. Their longest streak of the season is five.

Ball State will host Lincoln Memorial Friday, March 13. The match will be held at Irving Gym in the Ball State recreation center. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
