SET-BY-SET SUMMARY
Set One (PFW 25, BSU 18) The Mastodons gradually pulled away early in the opening set, leading by as many as eight points. The Cardinals made a bit of a run at the end to make it closer but could not cut the deficit to any less than five.
Set Two (BSU 25, PFW 21) Ball State responded in set two by separating from the 'Dons late in the game. A 4-0 run gave the Cardinals an 18-13 lead before BSU went on to claim four of the set's five final points to even the match at one apiece.
Set Three (PFW 25, BSU 20) The Cardinals dug themselves in a hole early in the third set and could never recover after an early 5-1 stretch from the Mastodons. A kill by Isaacson pulled BSU within two midway through the set, but that's as close as the Cardinals could get before falling behind 2-1 in the match.
Set Four (PFW 25, BSU 22) A 3-0 run gave Purdue Fort Wayne a 15-10 lead in set four and the Mastodons appeared to be running away again. BSU showed some fight by cutting the lead down to one with the scoreboard reading 21-20 in Purdue Fort Wayne's favor. Unfortunately, the Cardinals couldn't complete the rally and the 'Dons closed out the match.
