Game Notes: Â Ball State | Buffalo
Opening Tip:
 - Tonight's game against Buffalo will mark the 30th time in program history the two schools have met with the Cardinals leading the all-time series, 15-14. Â
- Buffalo has won the last four MAC regular season meetings against Ball State with the last time being on Feb. 20 by a score of 97-58 in Worthen Arena. The last time Ball State defeated Buffalo was in 2016-17 on Jan. 25. That game the Cardinals defeated the Bulls 89-75 in University Arena.
- A fun fact about the Cardinals and the Bulls: Last year's contest that was orginally scheduled to be played in Muncie on Jan. 30 had to be rescheduled due to severe weather and the polar vortex in Delaware County. Ball State was closed as well for the first time in over a decade.
- Ball State enters tonight's contest on a two-game losing streak after the Cardinals fell on the road last week at Central Michigan (39-66) and on the road against Ohio (71-79). Prior to the losses, Ball State had won seven in a row while opening Mid-American Conference action 3-0.Â
- The Cardinals would like to welcome back their Alumni on Feb. 1 when Ball State hosts Western Michigan at 3:30 p.m. in Worthen Arena. You can sign up for to attend the game and special activities on eventbrite.com.
MAC Success:
- Under the direction of eighth-year head coach Brady Sallee, the Cardinals have had a wealth of success during MAC action. Sallee enters this conference season with 77-47 (.621) career MAC record. The Cardinals have punched their ticket straight to Cleveland in the MAC Tournament five out of seven times under Sallee and have reached the championship game twice. Ball State earned a MAC West Division title in 2014-15 and has reached post season play six times including making it to the round of 16 at the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) in Sallee's inaugural year.
- The Cardinals have placed players on the postseason award list for the last eight seasons including the MAC Player of The Year Nathalie Fontaine in 2016. Prior to this season, junior forward Oshlynn Brown was named to the preseason All-MAC squad. Brown currently leads the Cardinals in scoring (13.1) and rebounding (9.6). She has registered five double-doubles this season and now has 23 for her career. She has been named the MAC West Division Player of the Week twice so far in non-conference play.
- Four teams in the MAC have opened league action with a 2-0 mark. All four teams are from the league's MAC West Division: Ball State (2-0), Western Michigan (2-0), Central Michigan (2-0) and Eastern Michigan (2-0).
Scouting Buffalo:
- Just like Ball State, Buffalo enters tonight's contest with a 3-2 Mid-American Conference ledger. The Bulls have defeated Miami (86-72), Bowling Green (65-59) and Eastern Michigan (66-63). Buffalo's MAC losses came against Toledo (71-59) and Ohio (76-65).
- The Bulls have two players averaging, Dyaisha Fair (23.2 ppg) and Theresa Onwuka (15.6 ppg). Defensively, Buffalo is led by Onwuka who is averaging 7.3 rebounds per contes.Â
- The Bulls are led by Felisha Legette-Jack who is in her eighth season at the helm of the Buffalo women's basketball program. She was named the 12th head coach in UB women's basketball history on June 14, 2012. Prior to her arrival at Buffalo, Legette-Jack spent six years as the head coach of Indiana University. She is a 1989 graduate of Syracuse University and played for years for the Orange women.
Up Next:
