
Men's Tennis Opens Spring Slate At Big Ten Foe Indiana Sunday

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State men's tennis team will open its 2020 spring slate on the road at Big Ten foe Indiana Sunday at 10 a.m.
The Cardinals will play three doubles and six singles matches Sunday. Last season, Ball State fell to the Hoosiers in Bloomington by a score of 7-0.
This marks the third straight season the Cardinals have opened spring action against the Hoosiers.
Ball State head coach Bill Richards enters his 48th spring season at Ball State. Richards began his head coaching career with the Cardinals in 1973. The winningest men's tennis coach in Ball State and Mid-American Conference history, Richards has amassed a 697-429 (.619) overall record and a 217-64 (.772) conference ledger for his career. Richards has coached 17 teams to undefeated regular seasons and 21 MAC Championships, with the first conference title coming in 1984. Richards has also garnered MAC Coach of the Year accolades 15 times.Â
The Cardinals return six letterwinners from last year's squad while welcoming four newcomers this spring.
Fans can come check out the Cardinals in their home opener against Wright State on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 1 p.m.. The match will be played indoors at the Northwest Muncie YMCA Tennis Center.
