Field Hockey Falls In The Battle Of The Birds In OT

OXFORD, Ohio - The Ball State field hockey team (2-6, 0-1 MAC) suffered a 1-0 overtime loss in its Mid-American Conference opener at Miami (4-3, 1-0 MAC) Friday afternoon. The game was a defensive thriller as both teams held each other scoreless the entire 60 minutes of regulation.

With no score, the game was sent into overtime. Miami's Noor Breedijk scored the winning goal for the RedHawks off of a penalty corner.

The Cardinals were outshot 22-1. The lone shot attempt for Ball State came from junior Abby Ferenczy.

Defensively, freshman goalkeeper Wietske Overdijkink collected 11 saves in today's game and now has 28 saves for the season. Senior Hannah Bohn also registered a defensive save against the RedHawks.

The Ball State field hockey team continues its five-game road swing when it travels to its third ranked opponent Sunday at No. 23 Michigan State. The game is slated to start at 11:30 a.m.
