Setting the Stage
Yianni Kostouros enters the season-opening tournament at the No. 1 spot in the lineup by virtue of edging returning scoring average leader Keegan Bronnenberg in a playoff after a competitive 10-round preseason qualifying series.
The five members of BSU's lineup combined to play 114 competitive rounds last year for a Cardinals' squad that set the school record for team scoring average (292.62). Ranieri is the only player in this year's lineup who did not compete last year at Cedar Rapids.
Ball State finished 12th at last year's Golfweek Conference Challenge, an event that was shortened to 36 holes because of rain. Bronnenberg opened the tournament with a 69 in his first career round as a Cardinal and went on to tie for 32nd as the team's second-best finisher behind Timothy Wiseman.
Arkansas State won last year's tournament by 12 shots over Iowa and is back to defend its title.

It was a long time coming, but @K_Bronnenberg made his BSU debut at last year's @Golfweek Conference Challenge.
