Football is Back! Preseason Camp Starts Friday
July 31, 2019 | Football
MUNCIE, Ind. – Summer break is officially over this week for the Ball State football team as players report to campus for preseason camp on Thursday, Aug. 1. The Cardinals will hold their first team practice the following day, Friday, Aug. 2, beginning at 2 p.m.
All preseason practices are open to the public. Cardinal supporters and media are more than welcome to attend practice. Media members looking to arrange interviews should contact Michael Clark (maclark4@bsu.edu) or Tyson Mathews (temathews@bsu.edu).
Be sure to mark your calendar for two key preseason events. The team will hold a scrimmage session during practice on Saturday, Aug. 10. The following Saturday is Ball State's annual Fall Fan Jam at Scheumann Stadium from 5 to 7 p.m. Fans will have the opportunity to meet Ball State student-athletes and coaches, receive posters and take part in interactive stations. The event features free admission and parking along with free giveaways. Click here for more information.
There are a few changes to the football staff heading into preseason camp. Joey Lynch is now the assistant head coach as well as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Dan Reineck, who served as a graduate assistant coach last year, slides into the newly created quality control coach spot this fall. Kyle Hoogeveen is the new video coordinator. Finally, all four graduate assistant coaches have changed since last year. This year's crew comprises Zach Greiner (offense), Joey Hecklinski (offense), Jack Nudo (defense) and Phil Schron (defense).
The Cardinals play host to Indiana at Lucas Oil Stadium in their season opener on Saturday, Aug. 31. The last time the two teams played at LOS in 2011, Ball State came away with a 27-20 victory. Click here to purchase tickets.
