Jameson, Baker, Ricotta named ABCA All-Mideast Region
Individual honors continue to pour in for Ball State baseball, which placed three players on the ABCA All-Mideast Region list.
Pitcher Drey Jameson was named first team ABCA All-Region and John Baker and John Ricotta were each on the second-team list. As a first-team pick, Jameson now goes on the list for ABCAÂ All-American. That list is announced Saturday, June 15 in conjunction with the College World Series.
Jameson, who recently was selected in the first round of the MLB Draft by Arizona, was MAC Pitcher of the Year during a dominant sophomore season. He set the conference record with 146 strikeouts, and was in the top 5 nationally in strikeouts and strikeouts per 9 innings. He finished 6-3 with a 3.24 ERA while holding opponents to a .219 average.Â
Baker and Ricotta, a pair of All-MAC players, were named second team ABCA All-Mideast Region. Baker, BSU's Saturday starter this year as a junior, went 7-2 and led the MAC with a 2.13 ERA. One of the top pitchers in the conference, Baker finished his college career 17-9 with 270 strikeouts and a 3.36 ERA. He was drafted by the Miami Marlins in last week's MLB Draft.
Ricotta played two seasons at Ball State and broke out as a senior, batting .308 with 10 home runs, 17 doubles and 48 RBIs. He started 56 games this year at 1st base, where he was voted MAC All-Defensive Team.Â
