Moritz Leads Women’s Golf into Contention at Hoya Invitational

Cardinals enter final round chasing tournament host Georgetown
BEALLSVILLE, Md. -- The Ball State women's golf team played its way into a tie for second place through Monday's opening 36 holes at the Hoya Invitational.
The Cardinals will enter Tuesday's final round within shouting distance of the lead, trailing tournament host Georgetown by 16 shots. They are tied with Richmond for the No. 2 spot at Four Streams Golf Club with a two-round total of 608 (+32).
Hadley Moritz led the way Monday for BSU with rounds of 75 and 74 to end the day in seventh place at 149 (+5). The freshman was 3 under par for her second round through the early going after an eagle at her fifth hole, the par-5 13th. She is five shots off the lead held by Georgetown's Christina Parsells.
Moritz was one of three Ball State players to shoot 74 in the afternoon round. Liz Kim's 74 put her in a tie for 10th at 151 (+7), and Manon Tounalom's left her in a tie for 15th at 153 (+9). Dylann Armstrong, competing as an individual, matched Tounalom for the day.
Morgan Lewis opened with a 74 and ended the day in a tie for 18th, while Emily Knouff is tied for 29th.
The third and final round will be played Tuesday with a 9 a.m. shotgun start, as Ball State finishes its final tuneup for the MAC Championships . Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
