Cards Fall at Ohio State, Enter MIVA Tournament as No. 5 Seed

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ball State men's volleyball team saw a 2-1 lead slip away as Ohio State came back to defeat the Cardinals in five sets Saturday night at St. John Arena.
BSU finished the regular season with a 15-14 record overall and a 6-8 mark in league play. That tally places the Cardinals fifth in the league standings and they will travel to play No. 4 McKendree to open the MIVA Tournament.
Ball State finished the night with 50 kills while hitting .223. As a team, BSU had eight service aces and 35 digs, and finished the night with 10 blocks.
The Cardinals jumped out to an early lead in the match as they dominated the first set and won 25-19. Ohio State responded by taking set two 25-17. Ball State regained its composure in the third set and again turned in a dominating performance with a 25-15 victory.
Looking to close out the match in set four, the Cardinals faded toward the end as the Buckeyes went up 24-21. BSU fought off a couple set points to extend the game, but OSU closed it out by winning 25-23.
With the match up for grabs in the decisive fifth set, both teams were facing a 5-5 tie. Ohio State seized the opportunity as it ripped off a 5-0 run to go up 10-5, and eventually won the set 15-9 to seal the win.
Blake Reardon led the Cardinals in kills with 14 while three different players had nine. Quinn Isaacson had team highs in assists with 39 and digs with 10. Parker Swartz had four service aces and Lemuel Turner recorded five blocks.
Ball State will open MIVA Tournament play at McKendree on Saturday. Match time and broadcast details will be announced as soon as they become available.
