April 30, 2019 | Women's Tennis
MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team will hold a special dedication ceremony Friday at 2 p.m. to honor former player Bethany Moore who tragically lost her life after a 2017 car accident in Hamilton County. The Cardinals will dedicate a bench in her name at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center.
"We miss Bethany every day," Ball State head women's tennis coach Max Norris said. "We speak about her all the time as the quintessential example of a teammate and a dedicated alumnna. This bench will only help to strengthen her legacy."
Moore, who earned four letters for the Cardinals from 2012-16, ended her career with overall records of 58-39 in singles and 56-39 in doubles. As a junior, she was named to the Mid-American Conference All-Tournament Team. Â
The Lebanon, Indiana, product helped Ball State make history as a senior in 2015-16, as the Cardinals claimed both the MAC regular season title and the MAC Tournament championship for the first time in program history. The Cardinals, who finished the season with a program-best 22-4 record, earned an automatic berth to the NCAA Championships where they ended their season at 10th-ranked Michigan. Â
In 2015, Moore helped guide Ball State to a 17-6 overall record, with the 17 wins being the most in program history at the time. She also helped the team reach the championship match of the MAC Tournament for the first time in school history.
Moore also excelled in the classroom, as she earned Academic All-MAC honors in 2014 and helped the Cardinals claim four Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team awards.Â
