Murphy, Cards Extend Win Streak

Freshman doubles, homers as Cardinals win 10th straight
Mack Murphy and Chase Sebby did the damage for BSU, which had to come from behind to win and then turned the game into a rout late. Trailing 4-2 in the 6th inning, the Cards plated 10 runs over the final 3 innings to improve to 19-9 on the year.
Murphy, a freshman batting .356 on the year, went 2-for-3 and scored 3 times. He smacked an RBI double in the 6th as Ball State scored 4 times to take a 6-4 lead. In the very next inning, Murphy lifted a 2-run shot over the fence in right for his first collegiate home run.

Sebby was supposed to have the day off, coming to the field straight from class just before the game. He took some cuts in the batting cage during the game to get loose and in the decisive 6th inning he was called upon to pinch hit. The usual starting catcher slashed a hit into center to score 2 runs and the Cardinals cruised the rest of the way to a win. Sebby would also single and score in the 8th.

William Baker and Noah Navarro each went 2-for-4 and scored twice and Erek Bolton had a pair of hits and a walk. Manchester's Joe Gallatin homered and hit a 2-run double for the visitors.
Brendan Burns retired 6 of the 7 batters he faced to earn his first win of the year. Ty Weatherly made the start and finished 4.0 innings with 5 strikeouts.
The Cardinals (4-0 in MAC play) haven't lost in nearly a month and will take on a Central Michigan (5-1 MAC) team that has won 7 in a row.Â
