Berger and Gollhofer Earn All-MAC First and Second Team Honors
April 25, 2019 | Women's Tennis
CLEVELAND - Seniors Audrey Berger and Peyton Gollhofer of the Ball State women's tennis team have earned All-Mid-American Conference first and second team accolades, respectively.
This marks Berger's first All-MAC postseason award of her career. She was tabbed to the All-MAC Tournament team in 2017. Berger has played mainly at the top two singles positions for the Cardinals this spring, posting a 6-4 mark on court one and a 7-1 ledger at the No. 2 slot. She wrapped up league play with a 4-3 record, earning wins over Toledo, Bowling Green, Buffalo and Northern Illinois. Berger also competed at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles alongside teammate Rebecca Herrington. The twosome went 10-6 in dual action and 3-3 in league play.
Gollhofer, a three-time recipient of postseason All-MAC honors, earned First Team All-MAC as a freshman and has been tabbed Second Team All-MAC for the second time in her career. Gollhofer led the Cardinals in league play with a 5-1 record at the No. 2 singles position. Her lone loss came against Akron last weekend in a three-set thriller. Gollhofer also dominated in doubles play this season at the No. 3 position with fellow senior Isabelle Dohanics. The duo went 14-3 in dual action and finished MAC competition with a 4-1 mark.
The No. 4 seed Ball State women's tennis team will compete in the quarterfinals of the 2019 Mid-American Conference Tournament against No. 5 seed Toledo Friday at 10 a.m. in Buffalo, N.Y.
