
T&F Splits for War Eagle and Kentucky Invitationals on Saturday

MUNCIE, Ind. - - With the Mid-American Conference outdoor championships quickly approaching, the Ball State track & field program will look for fast times and big marks this Saturday as it splits to compete at both the Kentucky Open and the War Eagle Invitational hosted by Auburn.

The largest group will head to the UK Outdoor Track & Field Complex in Lexington, Kentucky, for the Kentucky Open. There, BSU's student-athletes will compete in 13 events starting at 10 a.m. with the women's hammer and javelin.

The smaller group will head to the Hutsell-Rosen Track on the Auburn Campus for the War Eagle Invitational. There, BSU's student-athletes will compete in six events starting at 11:30 a.m. CT with the long jump.

No. 3: At least season's War Eagle Invitational, Ball State's 4x100m relay of Jazmin Smith, Bryeana Byrdsong, Jasmine Harris and Peyton Stewart combined for a time of 45.28 to break the program record of 45.42 which had stood since the 2001 season.

So far this season, BSU's 4x100m relay has continued its assault on the program's record books, claiming both the second-fastest (45.30 at the Vanderbilt Black & Gold Invitational) and the fifth-fastest (45.52 at the Ball State Challenge) times in program history.

In addition to having its sights set on the program record once again this weekend, the 4x100m relay is gunning for the MAC record of 44.99 set by Eastern Michigan in 2005 and again in 2018.
