Regan Lewis, Timothy Wiseman Named Athletes of the Year at The Chirpies

MUNCIE, Ind. – Ball State Athletics celebrated student-athlete accomplishments from the past year in Worthen Arena Monday night with the 2019 edition of The Chirpies. The event, modeled after the ESPYs, was organized and presented by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and sponsored by Ball State Athletics and Ball State Sports Link.

Leadership Award – Trey Moses, Men's Basketball
Scholar Athlete Award – Parker Swartz, Men's Volleyball
Male Athlete of the Year – Timothy Wiseman, Men's Golf
Female Athlete of the Year – Regan Lewis, Track & Field
Coach of the Year – Jason Roberson, Strength & Conditioning
Comeback of the Year – Darbi Gullett, Field Hockey
Code Red Most Spirited Award – Nealey Ritzel
Best Supporting Role – Beth Goetz, Director of Athletics
Sports Link Member of the Year – Connor Nichols
Female Outstanding Senior – Regan Lewis, Track & Field
Play of the Year – Regan Lewis, Track & Field (winning fourth MAC title in high jump)
Male Outstanding Senior – Timothy Wiseman, Men's Golf
All-Girl Cheerleading Most Spirited Award – Kate Mahnensmith
Coed Cheerleading Most Spirited Award – Kyle Kedra
Male Rookie of the Year – Kaleb Jenness, Men's Volleyball
Female Rookie of the Year – Tatiana Mason, Soccer
Sports Link senior Alex Thomas and field hockey senior Michelle Shampton were the hosts, while members of SAAC and fellow student-athletes presented the awards.
Special guests included Ball State alumni Jason Whitlock and Darnell Smith from the set of Speak For Yourself at the Fox Sports studios in Los Angeles and ESPN's John Anderson from the set of SportsCenter in Bristol.
The event began with red carpet arrivals before Indiana's favorite party band, Dave & Rae, hit the stage at 7 p.m.
