March 23, 2019 | Soccer
MUNCIE, Ind. – Sam Kambol scored two goals and assisted on another, and the Ball State soccer team defeated Grace College, 4-0, Saturday afternoon at Briner Sports Complex.
Saturday's game was the second of the Cardinals' spring slate. Ball State earned a 2-0 win against Eastern Kentucky earlier in the year.
"I really felt the girls made positive steps today," said head coach Craig Roberts. "The main focus for us today was to generate scoring opportunities and finish with some goals, and the girls did that very well. Collectively, the girls showed a lot of consistency and togetherness. It was a great job all the way through."
Julia Elvbo scored the first goal of the match on an assist from Kambol to get the Cardinals on the board. Kambol followed her assist by scoring the next two goals on assists from Sammi Corcoran and Tatiana Mason. With Ball State holding a 3-0 lead, Emily Simmons struck a ball from 30 yards out and connected with the back of the net to score the match's final goal and seal the 4-0 win.
Alex DeRuvo earned her second clean sheet of the spring for Ball State.
The Cardinals will be back in action next Saturday (March 30) as they welcome Eastern Illinois to Muncie. Kickoff is at 1:00 p.m. at Briner Sports Complex.
