
Men's Tennis Loses In MAC Action At Toledo, 4-3

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Ball State men's tennis team (9-9, 1-2 MAC) came up short Friday afternoon in Mid-American Conference action, after suffering a 4-3 setback at Toledo (9-8, 2-1 MAC).
The Rockets were able to take the early 1-0 edge over the Cardinals after winning the doubles point. On court one, Marko and Nemanja Guzina fell first to Omar Espinosa and Luka Vitosevic, 6-4. Ball State's No. 3 duo of Chris Adams and Conner Andersen were able to make it 1-1 with their 6-3 take down over Juan Carranza and Cole Shoults. Toledo would then clinch the point at the No. 2 spot.
In singles action, Toledo pushed its lead to 3-0 with victories at the No. 4 and No. 2 positions. Thibault de Negri then earned the Cardinals first point of the day after defeating Vince Anzalone at slot three, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4. Adams remained undefeated in league action and made the score 3-2 with his three set thriller on court four over Thawin Suksathaporn.
With the final two courts remaining, Vitosevic managed to beat Marko Guzina in three sets on the top court to claim match point over Ball State. Andersen would close out singles play at the final slot for the Cardinals with a straight set win over Serjen Olmedo.
The Ball State men's tennis team will host IUPUI in a mid-week non-conference match at home Wednesday. First serve is at 2 p.m. and will be played at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center, weather permitting.
