
T&F Earns 10 Event Victories to Win Stan Lyons Invite

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - - The Ball State track & field program opened the 2019 outdoor season on a strong note, scoring 10 event victories to win the four-team Stan Lyons Invitational Saturday afternoon at Butler's Davey Track & Field.
Overall, the Cardinals scored 172 total points to top host Butler (114), Wright State (98) and Evansville (90).
Leading the way for the Cardinals was sophomore sprinter MaQuila Norman who took home top honors in both the 200m (24.95) and 400m (1:00.65).
Ball State also took home first in the two shortest races of the day, with sophomore Ivy McKee turning in a career-fast time of 12.29 in the 100m and sophomore Anasja Troutman clocking in at a career-best 14.64 in the 100m hurdles.
The distance events saw the Cardinals score three victories, with freshman Meghan Hedrick winning the 800m (2:25.32), freshman Karleigh Conner taking the top spot in the 1500m (4:41.37) and sophomore Cayla Eckenroth placing first in the 3000m (10:07.20). All three times were also career-best performances.
Off the track, Ball State picked up three field event victories with sophomore Hailley Peters winning the high jump (1.60m), junior Kelsey Walters winning the shot put (14.02m) and sophomore Abby Denham winning the javelin (36.55m).
Up next for the Ball State track & field program, the Black & Gold Invitational hosted by Vanderbilt. The two-day meet begins Friday and concludes Saturday at the Vanderbilt Track & Field Complex.
