Bertram Completes Successful Season at NCAA Zones
March 15, 2019 | Women's Swimming and Diving
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – For the third-straight season, Ball State University swimming and diving's Rachel Bertram finished her season at NCAA Zones where she competed against the best divers in the area Thursday and Friday at Purdue University.
Bertram started off the event on Thursday with the 3-Meter competition. Her score of 231.30 landed her in 39th place for the event. That mark was good to place her in front of multiple divers from the Mid-American Conference, as well as competition from the likes of Michigan and Michigan State.
One day later was the 1-Meter in which Bertram improved to 33rd place with a score of 237.35. That tally again set her in front of divers from many notable schools in the area, including Notre Dame.
"I'm really proud of Rachel and the solid season she had," said diving coach Nick Gayes. "While we didn't quite end the season like we envisioned, Rachel still put together a good year. It was good to see her improve from day one to day two at zones. Hopefully after a week of rest we can get back to work to achieve our goals for next season."
The NCAA Zones conclude the diving season for the Cardinals. Ball State does have a handful of swimmers still competing in the National Invitational Championships in Cleveland, Ohio through Saturday.
