Women’s Tennis Sweeps MAC Weekly Honors

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Ball State women's tennis team swept this week's Mid-American Conference Weekly honors. Audrey Berger earned singles tennis player of the week while also being tabbed as part of the doubles team of the week, alongside doubles partner Rebecca Herrington.
Berger went 2-0 in singles action last week in California. She opened spring break play with a straight set win at the No. 2 singles position by taking the first set 6-4 over Kara Hinton of Azusa Pacific before claiming the match with a 6-1 victory in the final frame. Berger closed out the week on a high note, taking a three set thriller from UC Riverside's Tia Elpusan. After losing the first set, 6-1, Berger fought back to take frames two and three by a score of 6-4, for the victory.
The twosome of Berger and Herrington went 2-0 last week in doubles action. The No. 1 duo started the week off with a 6-2 take down over Azusa Pacific's Anna Savchenko and April Wong. The duo then ended spring break action by beating UC Riverside's Elpusan and Sarah Khattab, 6-3.
Both Berger and Herrington have helped the Cardinals to a 10-2 spring record so far this season. The Ball State women's tennis team continues dual action at home Saturday against Wright State at 7 p.m.
