Hadley Moritz finishes 23rd, Dylann Armstrong 30th for Ball State
DADE CITY, Fla. -- Manon Tounalom led the Ball State women's golf team with a 73 (+2) in Tuesday's final round to move up into a tie for 12th at the Spring Break Shootout.
Â
After their two best rounds of the season Monday, including a near school record, the Cardinals dropped back with a round of 309. BSU dropped a few spots to finish ninth in the 15-team field with a 54-hole total of 894 (+42) at Lake Jovita.
Â
Co-tournament hosts Florida Gulf Coast and Western Kentucky dueled it out for the championship. The teams finished deadlocked at 857 (+5), and FGCU edged the Lady Toppers on a fifth-player score tiebreaker.
Â
FGCU's Ailsa Clark maintained her spot atop the leaderboard and edged Austin Peay's Taylor Dedmen by two strokes at 7 under par to take medalist honors.
Â
Ball State freshman Hadley Moritz entered the day tied for fifth at 2 under par after her two lowest scores of the season a day earlier before falling back with an 81. Still, her tie for 23rd was her best of the year.
Â
Along with Tounalom's 73, Ball State counted a 77 from Emily Knouff, a 79 from Liz Kim and an 80 from Morgan Lewis in the final round.
Â
One of the biggest bright spots in this productive week was the play of freshman Dylann Armstrong who competed as an individual and tied for 30th at 9 over par. She was Ball State's third-best finisher for the week.
