Cardinals Open MAC Championships with Strong Relays

AKRON, Ohio – The women of the Ball State swimming and diving team opened day one of the Mid-American Conference Championships by putting together some impressive relays, which included nearly breaking a school record.
First up on the day was the 200 Medley Relay in which the Cardinals finished sixth with a time of 1:40.69. That time was 2nd all-time in BSU history. Audrey Schank's opening leg of 25.33 did break a school record. Mason Dahman touched in at 28.52 with Makenna Bottorff finishing with a time of 24.12 and Peighton Gilbert 22.72.
Next was the 800 Free Relay where Ball State took seventh. Sophie Bader, Liz Madison, Audrey Mayer and Anne Vormohr recorded a time of 7:32.38 which was good for 6th in school history.
Ball State finished day one in sixth place overall out of eight teams while securing 50 points. The Cardinals will be back in action on Thursday morning for preliminaries.
