Buffalo’s Hot Shooting Carries Bulls to Win Over Ball State

MUNCIE, Ind. – Visiting Buffalo shot a season-high 62.5 percent from the floor and cruised to a 97-58 victory over the Ball State women's basketball team Wednesday night in Worthen Arena.
The Bulls (17-7, 9-4 MAC), who advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 a year ago, stopped a two-game losing skid and also tallied their fifth straight win over Ball State (7-18, 2-11).
Buffalo shot better than 60 percent in each of the first three quarters including 70 percent in the second quarter. Summer Hemphill equaled her personal best with 24 points on 10-of-16 (62.5 percent) shooting. Meanwhile, Cierra Dillard (20 points) reached the 20-point plateau for the 21st time in the last 24 games.
For the Cardinals, Nakeya Penny finished with 10 points.

Ball State continues its three-game home stand Saturday afternoon, Feb. 23, as part of "Hoosieroons and Hoops Day." The women will don Hoosieroons uniforms as part of the University's Celebration, harkening back to that time when Hoosieroons was the moniker for varsity teams. Fans will be able to bid on the Hoosieroons jerseys by visiting www.bsu.edu/100 with all proceeds benefitting Ball State Athletics.
The men's basketball team hosts Central Michigan at 2 p.m. while the women follow with a 4:30 p.m. tilt with Toledo. Fans can purchase two tickets to the doubleheader for $19.18, referencing the university's founding year of 1918. For fans attending the women's basketball game only, a buy one ticket, get one ticket deal is available.
The first 1,000 fans to enter Worthen on the doubleheader day will receive a limited-edition Hoosieroons T-Shirt. As at all weekend home basketball games, face painting and balloon artistry will be available on the concourse. This season is also the first for beer sales in the arena for those 21 and over.
