Women's Tennis Contiues Its Winning Ways With 5-2 Win At Duquesne

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Ball State women's tennis team continued its winning ways in Pittsburgh, Pa. Saturday night with a 5-2 victory over Duquesne.
With the win, the Cardinals improved to 6-1 overall while the Dukes dropped to 4-4 on the season.
Ball State took control of the match early on with a dominating performance in doubles play. Peyton Gollhofer paired up with partner Isabelle Dohanics for the clinch in doubles action over Priyanka Mitta and Meredith Lee. The twosome won the match 6-1 to give Ball State its first point.
In singles play, Julianne Herman knotted the match 1-1 after taking down Sarah Swiderski on the top court. Gollhofer then put the Cardinals back into the lead with her straight set win over Aishwarya Kona at the No. 3 slot. On court four, Rebecca Herrington gave Ball State the 3-1 advantage after her 6-2, 6-3 defeat over Priyanka Mitta. Lilya Hadab then clinched the win for Ball State at the No. 6 position with her three-set thriller over Margot Pessy.
The Ball State women's tennis team will continue spring play when it returns home for a 1 p.m. first serve against Western Kentucky on Feb. 24 at the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center.
