Cardinals Sign Third-Ranked Ohio Golfer Ali Khan

Khan won three team state championships at Columbus Academy
MUNCIE, Ind. -- Ali Khan, who led his Columbus Academy team to three high school state championships in Ohio, signed Friday to play his collegiate golf at Ball State.

A multiple first-team all-state and all-conference performer, Khan set Columbus Academy records for best scoring average (73.0) and lowest nine-hole score (31). He placed in the top 10 individually three times at the Ohio Division II state finals, including a runner-up finish as a junior.

"We are thrilled to have Ali joining our golf family," Ball State head coach Mike Fleck said. "He has an accomplished high school and junior golf resume to go along with being one of the highest ranked players in the 2020 class in Ohio.Â

"Not many high school athletes can say they've won three straight state championships, but Ali can. He has a great golf swing and knows how to compete and win. Those qualities will serve him well as a Ball State Cardinal."

Khan won the 2019 AJGA Dana Incorporated Junior Open and made the cut at the Junior PGA Championship. He owns two wins on the Golfweek Junior Tour and is third in the AJGA's ranking of Ohio players in the Class of 2020.

Khan joins two Indiana standouts -- Tipton's Griffin Hare and Yorktown's Carson Orr -- in Ball State's 2020 recruiting class. The trio will graduate high school in the spring and join the Cardinals' program next fall.
