Cardinals add one of area’s top players to 2020 recruiting class
MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State men's golf team welcomed some local talent to its recruiting class Monday with the addition of Yorktown High School standout Carson Orr.
The two-time Hoosier Heritage Conference and Delaware County medalist was a state qualifier as a junior. He will play his senior season at Yorktown in the spring.
"Carson is a physically gifted athlete who has had success in winning high school and junior tournaments around the state and region," Ball State head coach Mike Fleck said. "A couple of things that stand out about Carson are his positive energy and his gritty desire in wanting to compete. He has all the qualities we look to identify with the young men representing our program, and we look forward to him joining our family in the fall."
Orr has more than 50 wins to his credit, including a victory this year at The Players Club on the Golfweek Junior Tour. He placed fourth in the 2019 Hoosier Junior Championship at Otter Creek in Columbus and finished third on the Indiana Golf Association Masters Tour points list.
Orr played his freshman season for a regional-qualifying team at Hagerstown High School before moving to Yorktown. He was individual medalist of his sectional as a sophomore in his first season with the Tigers.
Orr joins Tipton High School's Griffin Hare in Ball State's 2020 recruiting class, giving the Cardinals two top prospects from central Indiana.
