Three-time all-state selection averaged red figures for senior season
MUNCIE, Ind. -- Record-setting Kokomo High School golfer Kiah Parrott will stay close to home to play for Ball State, signing Wednesday with the Cardinals and head coach Katherine Mowat.
The three-time all-state and four-time All-North Central Conference selection will graduate from Kokomo in the spring and join the Cardinals next fall.
"Kiah is a well-respected and tough competitor," Mowat said. "She will be the only underclassman on the team next year, and I have no doubt she will hold her own. She will be a great teammate, and she has the talent and determination to be one of the top golfers in our conference."
Parrott broke all the Kokomo scoring records, finishing her senior season this fall with under-par averages of 70.3 for 18 holes and 34.4 for nine holes. The school's best single-round scores for 18 holes (-6) and nine holes (-4) also belong to her.
Parrott made the Indiana state finals three times. She notably reported herself for a scorecard error at the 2019 finals, forfeiting a top-10 finish but receiving widespread support for her display of sportsmanship. She won two conference and sectional championships, firing a 5-under-par 65 on the way to the NCC title as a senior.
Parrott finished seventh over the summer at the Indiana Amateur Championship. She is a winner on both the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour and Indiana Junior Golf circuit, having won state age group championships in 2015 and 2017.
