ERIN, Wis. -- The Ball State men's golf team is aiming for a Tuesday rally at the Marquette Intercollegiate after treading water in Monday's second round.

The Cardinals counted scores of 74 from Joey Ranieri, Keegan Bronnenberg and Tyler Green along with a 75 from Yianni Kostouros on the way to a round-two team score of 297 (+9). They remained in 12th place in a strong field at Erin Hills.

Purdue vaulted to the top with a 10-under-par team round and leads UCLA by one stroke with one round to play. Five teams are within four shots of the lead.

Freshman Joey Wiseman, competing as an individual in his first collegiate event, recorded the best score of any BSU golfer on the day with a 73.

Ranieri is the top Cardinal on the leaderboard in a tie for 17th place at 2 over par. Marquette's Hunter Eichhorn leads the way at 7 under.

The third and final round will be played Tuesday. The first Ball State tee time is slated for 9:40 a.m. CT (10 ET).
