October 03, 2019 | Soccer
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – With a 3.53 GPA, the Ball State University soccer team was recognized by United Soccer Coaches for earning the Team Academic Award for the 2018-19 academic year.
It is the third consecutive season the Cardinals have been recognized, and 13th overall.
"This is a great team achievement," said head coach Josh Rife. "It took all members doing their part to be recognized for this honor. They are all truly student-athletes. We are grateful for our wonderful support staff who continually encourage our student-athletes to reach their full potential."
A total of 989 college teams (345 men, 644 women) earned the Team Academic Award, including 255 schools who had both their men's and women's programs among the recipients. College Team Academic Award recipients are active members of the United Soccer Coaches College Services Program with a composite grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for all players on the roster for the 2018-19 academic year.
On the field, Ball State's season continues this weekend when the Cardinals travel to take on Akron Friday and Buffalo Sunday.
